Crested Gecko, Rhacodactylus ciliatus
The Crested Gecko, Rhacodactylus ciliatus, has projections above the eyes, but has no eyelids. They keep their eyes free of dust and foreign particles by using their tongues to clean them. They are very good climbers, and come in a variety of colors in nature, with more being created through selective captive breeding. The crested gecko is native to New Caledonia. Some captive specimens have been known to life over 15 years. Though they are becoming scarce in the wild, there is a very large captive breeding population.
